Open4mat is a brand new concept of workshops, publication, community link ups and DJ competition. The name comes from the phrase “Open Format DJing”. In DJ lingo, an Open Format DJ is someone who does not conform to a single genre of music. They play multiple genres including but not limited to Hip Hop, R&B, Dubstep, Drum and Bass, House, Old School, Retro, etc.
We believe that by going back to the core fundamentals, students will be given the knowledge to be flexible enough to play and make any type of music. This nurtures their own creativity by allowing them the skills to not only play their favorite type of music but also explore other sounds and adapt to the ever evolving music and DJ industry. We do not teach one type of music. We teach all the skills you need to play and make all types of songs. We’re open to all genrés and styles. We’re… open format 😉
